Seven Great Fall Activities in D.C. Area
Happy autumn! Just because temperatures are turning colder and the days are getting shorter doesn’t mean it’s time to barricade yourself inside until spring. There are plenty of fall activities going on in our area. Many take place inside or outside so you can get some fresh fall air or protect yourself from the chill.
Fall Activities: Visit the Zoo
Pack up the kids and plan a day trip at to the National Zoo. Admission is free except for special events such as Boo at the Zoo and Night of the Living Zoo
Scare Yourself Silly
Did you know you can visit the infamous steps from the movie The Exorcist in Georgetown? The Washington D.C. area is full of spooky delights from areas in Capital Hill where departed lawmakers allegedly haunt visitors to a wide range of spooky walking tours throughout the city.
Oktoberfest All Autumn
Multiple breweries and brew-centric restaurants feature a variety of specials and activities in beer gardens and bars. Skip the trip to Munich, grab some friends, and enjoy the wide array of beer and German-inspired food available in our backyard this fall. Consider choosing a designated driver or booking a car service for the ride home.

National Hispanic Heritage Month began Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 15. Learn about residents who trace their lineage from Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. With events scattered throughout the area, you and your family can enjoy native dances, a variety of demonstrations, gallery tours, and feast on native cuisine.
Hang out at the Mall
The National Mall that is, where the beauty of fall foliage is in full force. Take a free kid-friendly tour that’s loaded with interesting and fun facts about the city and its monuments or pack a picnic and people watch for a few hours.

Enjoy the last of the farm-fresh produce weekend mornings at the Eastern Market in the heart of Capitol Hill. Stock up on fresh cheese and baked goods, treat yourself to a handmade scarf or picture as you sip a tasty warm beverage. Take a Walk For Charity
Fall is a great time to get in as much outdoor walking as you can before the weather turns nasty, and why not walk for a good cause. There’s a diverse collection of charity walks in the D.C area that raises money and awareness for Parkinson’s Disease, Childhood Cancer, AIDS, and many more. Lace up and get trotting!
